[Companion] 8-Forma Huras - A Disappointment

I've been breeding Kubrow recently and happened to get my hands on an Omega Huras. Lucky, right? This was happening while I was collecting info from this thread.

According to a lot of people the AI is broken. Being a Carrier user myself, I didn't know what they were talking about. So I imagined glitches here and there but things like that are normal, right?

Now, today my Huras matured so I decided to make her useful! Meet Wanda.
She's a bear of a Huras
Here's what how she looks in missions.

Not bad, right?

That's exactly what I thought and Put 8 forma on her today. I basically wasted my whole day ranking her up 9 times. And after all the work, I really feel that it was a waste.

Here's Her Mod Set-up

I even maxed all the 10-rank mods for her...

Then to test her, I went on T2 Exterminate. I read from the thread above that a completely modded Kubrow can Kill a level 70 Heavy so I thought T2 Exterminate would not be a problem. I let her kill everything and just tried to evade the whole time except for some parts. I also removed her invisibility skill so she would just attack.

Here's what I found out... (please consider that these are T2 Exterminate enemies)

Can she kill grunts (normal non heavy units)?
YES! Her normal attacks can deal with grunts with no problem... except when she misses... and she does this quite often.

Can she kill heavies?
SOMETIMES... Normal attacks take about 30-50% of their HP. The dash attack kills them. Of course... she misses... often.

Were there any critical problems?
YES! She often tries to kill the shield drone. She misses doing that 90% of the time and it's annoying! After She tried to kill the first one and missed 4/4 times, I decided to just shoot them down for her.

Did she get stuck?
YES! Under stairs, secret rooms, walls and even the rails and posts/columns. I was sad really. I just ran away to force her to spawn beside me and I lead her back to the enemies so she could kill them... eventually.

Was there anything good that happened?
Well,  she's very tough. This may be be a use I used a max armor Valkyr. I'll try it again and post a video if possible. I will probably use Limbo so all the enemies target her instead of me. I just wish that her toughness didn't depend on the frame using her. When I go on raids, I rarely have the chance to use a high armor/shield or health Warframe.

Yes I am very disappointed in the Kubrow. Not as disappointed, but the AI is still a problem. I feel like everything was wasted. I hope DE fixes the AI before introducing any more 4-legged companions.

I'll try to bring her to a raid and see what happens.

Wish me luck!

UPDATE:
Brought her to a Normal raid and she did great! She also kept me alive during NM raids. I Suggest to Give your Kubrow enough forma to survive, but not to kill. 8 is probably too much for a stealth dog. I also have an Omega Sahasa maybe I'll give it 8 forma too. I already have the mods anyway.

Take note though, that shade might do the job as well as the Kubrow. And that's the sad thing about it.

Carrier will still be my main Companion because of the convenience, but I'll bring Wanda along for Raids so she can earn her stabilizers.

[Builds] Raid Support Weapons and Companion

So you've done a Trial (or raid) or two and now, you might be wondering what else you can improve beyond your frame to make Trials a bit easier. You're in luck since i'll be tackling that in this post!

I've chosen to tackle, Primary, Secondary and a Companion for the Trial. These are support weapons that you may want to include in your current raid arsenal. Feel Free to mix and match. the idea is to find the builds that will complement your play style.

The Primary: Vectis Prime

Why Vectis?

  • First, because of 100% status. Viral is powerful if you need to kill something faster.
  • Second, it's hit-scan. This helps with the elimination of the Nullifier Drones in NM.
  • Third, If you play EV Trinity, you might find that the scope helps find EV targets.

Here's the Build I use. With the right shots and procs, you'll be able to kill off the G3 one at a time.

The Secondary: Vaykor Merelok

Why Vaykor Marelok?

  • First (again) 100 % status.  Viral is powerful if you need to kill something faster. You can also  use it as a knockdown weapon if you need more CC without killing since it is relatively spammable.
  • Second, (again) it's a hit-scan weapon. We really don't like those Nullifier drones.
Here's my Vaykor Marelok Build:

The Companion: Shade (Vanilla or Prisma) or Huras (Kubrow)

Why Shade or Huras?

  • Stealth. That chance to live longer is worth it.
That is basically it. You just need to max the stealth ability of your chosen companion, give it some survive-ability and you are set. I prefer Shade since you can remove it's attack precept.

Melee: For Blocking (Optional)

**Thanks for Bryan for the comment. It does make sense although i have not encountered the need yet.

Thanks to the revision of stamina, you can now block/parry and take a little as 15% damage from sources in front of you. Here's a link to the wiki for Melee 2.0. The section on Parrying contains the list of weapons you can choose. I would personally go for a weapon that can block 85% of the damage without channeling.

In case your team does not have enough CC, you can opt to block attacks coming from an enemy.

Why is it optional?
Well, you can just shoot it if it gets too close basically. If it can catch you off guard, it might not have come from in front and hence, cannot be blocked either way.

Notes

Why not Carrier
Very little killing is done during the raid. That's why most if not all the frames used are CC frames. No killing = no loot. Hence there is no need for carrier.

I am not saying that Carrier is trash or for casuals. I love Carrier, but there is a place for everything. I can use carrier during a loot trip (basically all non Trial missions) anyway.

Hope it helps!

[Showcase] Concealed Explosives as a Utility Mod

A lot of people use secondaries for damage, but with the advent of the Winds of Purity Furis, some people are shifting views towards utility.

With the release of the mod Concealed Explosives, utility now comes to thrown weapons.

Concealed explosives basically gives a chance for your thrown weapon to explode on impact and deal 500 Blast damage to a 10 m area. It' is similar to Thunderbolt, but with a max proc chance of 80% vs the max proc of 30% for Thunderbolt. Another improvement is the fact that it is used by thrown weapons that have a bigger ammo pool, fire rate  and multishot potentials in general. This makes it spammable.

The Uses Of Spammed Explosions

Bubble Popping

I think the most convenient and effective use of this is to get rid of Nullifiers. Those annoying crewmen that are immune to Warframe powers easily succumb to a barrage of exploding Shuriken or Kunai. The explosions damage the enemies inside the bubble killing the Nullifier without the need to shrink the Nullifier bubble. It's by far the fastest and easiest way to do it.

Farming Containers in the Void

Did you know that certain void containers could drop mods? This is especially true for the ones behind walls that need to be activated. Fortunately, because of spammy explosions, you can now destroy containers behind walls and let carrier fetch them for you.

Ever herd of the golden ball room in the void? Works on those too. You'll have to jump high to let carrier fetch the mods though but parkour 2.0 helps with that!

Destroying Destructibles

That 10 m radius is pretty big. The great thing about it that you can use it to open containers in a room without having to break each one. It's VERY convenient especially if you need energy.

Laser plates in the void also break quickly under a barrage of explosions.

Enjoy the hunt!

[Guide] Man of Few Words 17.4.3 [No Spoilers]

All I'm gonna say is that it's a fun quest. :)

Overview

The quest is composed of 3 missions.

Each mission is different and has a mid boss.

Darvo will be your guide throughout instead of Lotus.

Starting the Quest

As soon as you log in, you will see a message sent to you by Darvo.

Read/listen to the message and follow the instructions.

Go to you favorite relay. I suggest that you go to the least populated one. If there are too many people in the relay you might not see the quest marker.

Once in the relay go past the Rhino statue and enter the door beyond that.

Then go around to where the elevators are.

The elevator to the right will allow you to go up to the next level. You just need to "use" it. By default "use" is set to "x".

Once you get up go to Darvo's store. It's the one with the Corpus symbols to the left.

You will need to see the quest marker and use it.

Looks like a lot of people though buying the item would give the quest...

you know you did it right because you get these options. If you did not get this option and got the shop option immediately exit and try again. I suggest to approach from the left and interact with him from that side (away from the Discounted item board).

Select the first option so you can begin the quest.

Once you accept the quest you'll have to go back to your Liset and Quest Console.

Select "A Man of Few Words" and Begin the Quest (lower right corner of the screen).

The Missions

All of the Missions are in Uranus so an Archwing might be required. Although I did not encounter that instance during my quest run.

Please take note each mission has a mid boss. The mid bosses are members for the G3. You get to fight one per mission.

The first two are easy, but they last one may be annoying.

Mission 1: Leekter
Mission 2: Vem Tabook
Mission 3: Shik Tal
Generally annoying because of his shields and rockets. Circle around him for the kill or use punch through weapons.

Mission 1

I suggest that you use your usual Rescue load out for this mission.

Mission 2

You just basically kill things in this mission. No need for anything special.

Mission 3

Just need to survive 10 mins and defeat a mid boss. You also get a Clem CLone BP which is not reusable.

Go Back to Darvo in the relay

Just go back to Darvo to end the quest.

End and Rewards

You will get an Exilus adapter after this quest.

Wait what?! What are proxies anyway?

Proxies in Corpus terms are their robots. This includes the drones and MOAs and bosses like Zanuka (Harvester), Raptor, Hyena Pack, Ambulas and Jackal maybe even Lynx and the Bursa MOAs!

So what should you prepare for?

Damage

Electricity will deal damage quickly to Robotics along with Puncture and Radiation. Impact, Cold and Magnetic will make short work of shields. Magnetic and Impact will continue to deal high damage to Targets with Proto Shields.

Here's a list of enemies with their classifications:

Robotic Enemies

  • MOAs
  • Drones/Ospreys
  • Zanuka (Harvester)
  • Raptor
  • Hyena Pack
  • Ambulas
  • Jackal
  • Lynx
  • Bursa MOAs

Shields
corpus units in general

Proto Shields

  • Zanuka (Harvester)
  • Raptor
  • Hyena Pack
  • Ambulas
  • Jackal

Some of these may also have armor so prepare your Corrosive weapons as well.

Weapons

Weapons with innate Electric (Ninkondi, Serro, Lanka, Amprex, Synapse, etc) damage will shine in this event along with the usual heavy hitters (Soma Prime and Boltor Prime).

Warframe

Volt (Vanilla and Prime) are definitely going to be great for any mission that involves a lot of robotics! Oberon, Saryn, Frost (Vanilla and Prime) will also be very effective.

Let's not forget Mag (Vanilla or Prime) and her penchant for making Shields explode!

[Companions] Kubrow Project Creating an Omega Chesa Generation 1

(If you haven't read the first one and would like to read that for context, you may get it here.)

So I Got imprints from My Omega Sunika and My mongrel Chesa and bred 2 Kubrow.

Here's the first result:

Result 1

Breed:  Chesa
Height: Med
Build:   Athletic
Pattern: Striped
Colors: Orange, Black and brown

Result 2:

Breed:  Sunika
Height: Med
Build:   Bulky
Pattern: Patchy
Colors: White/Grey

Findings

Both heights were med, I'm still hoping that there is still a possibility to get an OMEGA from 2 meds. I'd be surprised if i get a short Kubrow in the generation. That would mean that Height does not breed true.

Pattern and color were completely switched, but there was no mixing of pattern and color. If the next Generation continues to show the lack of mixing patterns and colors then I would conclude that pattern and color are inherited together.

I'm lucky I got another bulky Kubrow for the next generation. I understand though that there's is a 50% chance that the build will go either way.

Generation 2

The imprints have been planted. I am awaiting the next sets and will report the findings next week.

[Companions] Kubrow Project

So I bought Chesa imprints after weeks of breeding Kubrow to get one. (There's a way to browse imprints if you didn't know. you can find a guide here)

She's pretty plain but I'm glad I got one either way. :)

The gem here is that even though i discarded almost all the kubrow pups i got which were not Chesa, I chose to keep one because of the color.

Cute right? So I froze him XD

After I finished maxing the Chesa I shelved her because all the rumors were true, she's useless. I then took out the orange pup I saved and waited for him to incubate.

After breakfast today I was surprised to see what he turned into.

I got an OMEGA. :)

He has three colors to boot. :D I still colored him though and bought the new Ifrit armor from the store.

I to make absolutely sure he's an omega I did the Rhino test.

Can you see the Rhino?:)
Actually he looks like a mount...

Or one of those polar bears from Narnia.

Too bad there isn't a panda fur pattern. Would have been fun.

Thanks for reading!
